Who knew ten years could go by so quickly?
Lola celebrated her 10th birthday on August 4th.
Ten years ago — after sharing our difficult journey to parenthood with viewers in Central Ohio (and beyond) — we were elated to announce that Lola Jean was born. We still had quite a long road ahead of us, but I can’t tell you how much we appreciated that outpouring of support from friends, family and even total strangers.
I still have the boxes of letters, cards and gifts people sent during my recovery from surgeries, and celebrating the day that Lola was born. The whole experience — and being able to share my chronic illness journey with people around the country (and beyond) — has been inspiring, transformative and humbling.
Those experiences and everything that has happened over the past ten years inspired me to create PSNeverGiveUp — to let others know that THEY are not alone in THEIR journeys.
The PSNeverGiveUp Foundation is all about providing grants and resources for other couples who are experiencing infertility while managing chronic illness — while the The PSNeverGiveUp lifestyle brand serves as a way to inspire others to NEVER GIVE UP.
I’ve learned from speaking with people all across the country that “not giving up” means different things to different people. So no matter what it is YOU’RE dealing with, I hope you know there are people out there who care about you and want to see you succeed.
THANK YOU for everyone who was there with us 10 years ago when our miracle Lola joined our family — and THANK YOU to everyone who has been there with us ever since, as we grew into the #ScaliaPartyOf5. (Six, if you count Pappy!)
And a special “thank you” to my Lola Jean — for being my biggest source of inspiration and changing my life for the better 10 years ago. Here’s to the next 10 years and beyond. I’m so grateful I get to be your Dad. 🙏♥️
