MondayMotivation – Real Confidence is Being Able to Laugh at Your Failures.

What does is mean to be “confident?” A lot of people think that, to be confident, we need to constantly remind ourselves of our successes in order to feel good about ourselves.

I would argue that it’s more important to celebrate our failures.

Whether it’s on stage or on-camera, I’ve always loved the feeling of being LIVE. I’ve worked with a lot of people who beat themselves up for hitting a wrong note or flubbing a line on live TV. To me, that’s part of the process! You’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself and shrug it off if you want to really feel confident and grow.

Our imperfections are what make us perfect!

I can’t tell you how many times I got tongue-tied on live TV, or misspoke and accidentally said something TOTALLY inappropriate (or the one time I got caught on camera with a mouth full of delicious bacon!) 🤣 Why beat yourself up over it? We’re only human. Chalk it up to experience, have a laugh and move on. ⏩

When I’m playing live music onstage and one of us hits a wrong note, forgets the lyrics, or totally skips a verse of a song — we’ll shoot each other a knowing look, laugh and shake our heads, and play on. To me, that’s what makes it rock ‘n’ roll! 🤘

Don’t get me wrong — we should most certainly celebrate our successes. Even if you strive for “perfection,” you have to be willing to embrace the times that you fail.

We’re all “perfectly imperfect.” Once you realize that, you’re on your way to becoming the most confident version of yourself.
